Kirtan: An Afternoon of Collective Chanting
Sunday, 20 October 2024
Kirtan is the practice of collective chanting or group singing, usually in community as a sing-along of bhajans, or devotional songs, and call-and-response of mantra, or sacred sounds. Kirtan is most commonly known within the practice and tradition of Bhakti Yoga.
Chanting as a group brings people together as a community in a way that no other form of yoga does. In a world filled with messages about how we’re separate from each other and separate from the divine, chanting mantras together can provide an antidote. Kirtan was created to fuel a sense of connection and unity.
Join guest teacher Rebecca Hajek for an intimate Kirtan at The House of Yoga. You do not need to be a good singer, or a practitioner of yoga, or a follower of any set of beliefs to experience the power of kirtan. An open mind and your voice are all that is needed!
