Yin & Restorative Yoga: Explore the Depth of Rest
Saturday, 1 February 2025
Restorative yoga and yin yoga are two practices of settling down. Guided by Elena and Lisa you’ll experiment the deeply relaxing effect of those practices. It’s an afternoon to rest and recharge.
Restorative and yin are often mistaken for one another so in this workshop we’ll take the time to delve into both of them, their similarities and differences and to have an embodied experience of each one.
Restorative yoga encourages physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. It is practiced at a slow pace, focusing on long holds and stillness. Props, like blocks, bolsters, blankets and straps are used so that you are fully supported in your pose, creating an effortless practice to facilitate relaxation and health. The focus is on the release of physical and mental tension to allow calming the nervous system.
Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with poses that are passively held for longer periods of time. This practice targets and puts intentional stress on the deep connective tissues of the body, such as joints, fascia, ligaments and tendons. Props are used to either support physical release or to deepen sensations in the target areas. Yin Yoga facilitates circulation, mobility and flexibility as well as invites physical and mental relaxation.
